So... You want to know what kind of instruments I have and play?
Donna says I have a bad case of GAS, aka Guitar Acquisition Syndrome, but I use them all... no, really I do!! NOTE... As you click the links the pictures will appear below. To close the images just touch the instrument and move away with your pointer...
Guitars
- 1990 Cherry Red flame maple Gibson ES 335, brand new, never sold, stashed in the back of 2 different stores over its 16 year history, Donna peeled off the pick guard's protective cover. It must have been just waiting for me! I always loved the sound of the 335!
- A Koa "Fine-Resophonic" Resonator guitar by Mike Lewis. It is the most expensive guitar I ever bought... but well worth it. It is the best resonator I have ever heard. (He makes them for Clapton, too) Stolen from me, after one year away, it was found for sale on the internet and returned to me. Thank you Pascal, and thank you Paul. I
- The 1972 Fender Telecaster re-issue of the '52 tele. The sound is great! I use it mostly for slide these days.
- My Ibanez 70's Gibson copy (a rare bird, they had to stop making it due to copyright protection) It is on "permanent loan" from a fan in France. Thanks Michael.
- A handmade acoustic by old friend and guitar builder Terry Bennett. It has a huge neck like a classical but is a steel string with tone that just won't stop!! I used it to record the acoustic guitars on "No Rest For The Wicked". Terry has since passed on. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
- A Johnson resonator. The color is a strange metalic green. I bought it to tie me over when my Fine-Resophonic was stolen. I 'hot rodded ' it up some with a pick-up but after owning one of the best guitars on the planet it could never meet up to my expectations. Now that the Fine-Reso is back, its not so bad, I use it occasionally as a second.
- 'Dream' acoustic guitar that I bought in Bangkok for next to nothing, but it sounds good! I bought for our S.E. Asia travels but it continues to serve us well. I added the pick-up.
- A $42 Mexican guitar, that I've sunk another $200 into over time. Held together with travel stickers, bubble-gum and bailing wire, it was my first travelling guitar when we left Nashville to travel the world.
- A Chikita guitar with Jackson p'up and Kahler whammy bar (another $50 pawnshop find.)
- My 1964 Gibson SG was * STOLEN * this was a sad loss. It is still M.I.A. but it's a small world. Someday I will see it again, it can't be held captive forever!
