Lance & Donna
"Travelin’ Blues"
Honey Pumpkin Music

"It’s hard for "travelers" to settle somewhere, but it seems they did manage to do so to produce their first album. Lance (voc, g) and Donna (perc) take us back to the roots with a musical journey mixing tenderness, violence and sadness. The intensity that comes out of this duo is powerful and simple. Lance’s voice is rough and intense, as he paints the musical portrait of the blues from the beginning of the century with "Dust My Broom". He is a master of the guitar, no one can deny this. Lance plays "Can’t Get That Stuff No More" on the Gibson lap steel from 1938 (original instrument). His playing is simple, fluid, and transports us to the blues of the Delta. You can equally savor the interpretation of the themes of "Death Don’t Have No Mercy" on the "Fine Reso-phonic" guitar, on "I Ain’t No Iceman", on a steel Dobro, without forgetting "Come On In My Kitchen" on the slide. All this, for our pleasure, is held together by Donna’s steady beat on the rainstick. In these times when so many musicians are recording albums meaning nothing, you may stop a while on this album where it is breathing the need to tell the continuing story of the blues. You must appreciate the themes interpreted with the purest respect for tradition and Lance’s great creativity and talent to improvise. This album is indispensable for blues lovers."
